Gassett's began at Mr. Gassett's garage in Duncanville, Texas in the early 1950s. Mr.Gassett would service mowers part time after his full time job. Seeing the success and potential in the lawn equipment industry, Mr. Gassett opened his own shop in Duncanville on April 9, 1959. There he serviced and sold Toro lawn mowers. Wanting to expand his sales and service, he then moved Gassett's to its present day location in 1961. As the business started to grow, Mr. Gassett then added a tech to help satisfy customer demands. In 1974 Gassett's added its first hand-held product from ECHO. With the addition of this line, Gassett's grew tremendously.

Knowing business was growing rapidly and customers' demand needed to be met, Mr. Gassett brought in his son, Johnny Gassett. Johnny learned how to weld and repair lawn equipment at 8 years old. Johnny picked up on this trade almost instantly and then began teaching mechanics twice his age how to fix equipment "his way." He has been running Gassett's ever since.

In 1995 Johhny Gassett bought Gassett's, retiring Mr. Gassett. Once Johnny fully owned and operated the business, Gassett's saw its true potential. Johnny believed 100 percent that honesty is the best policy. He may not sell you what you want, but he will sell you what you need.
